Santo
Domingo (Santo Domingo Cultural Center)
At the end ot the touristic corridor is
found the church and ex-convent of Santo
Domingo de Guzmán, an outstanding building.
This Temple, opened for worship in 1608,
is one of the best examples of the Baroque
style in Mexico with its extraordinary interior
decoration of golden and polychrome plaster
work. The splendid altarpiece of the main
altar was made using gold leaf in 1959 by
Oaxacan artisans. Today, the ex-convent
has become the Santo Domingo Cultural Center
who is called the State most important project
on their kind.
